Content Management System

The GlobalPort Content Management System (CMS) provides integrated workflow and approval tools that ensure up-to-date content with support for any number of authors, editors, peer reviewers or other roles towards the creation of traditional web pages and articles, formal society publications like guidelines and policy statements and more interactive content such as multiple-choice questions, or even larger multi-chapter online-publications.

Core WYSIWYG CMS and Portal Framework
All content in the GlobalPort System can be managed, edited, updated and fully controlled through a “what you see is what you get” (WYSIWYG) editor. Authorised administrative users who log into the system will be able to navigate through the site like any normal user, and as they pass their mouse over content that they are allowed to modify, an edit button appears, which, when clicked, allows that user to modify that piece of content using a familiar interface, much like Microsoft Word. The system also includes a content taxonomy tagging area and other customizable document properties that allow for a uniquely-tailored content production process. Check-out & Check-in prevent over-writing of work and complete history and versioning allow tracking revisions and reverting to earlier versions.

Multimedia Library
A sophisticated Multimedia Asset Library provides an image/video/audio/PPT/PDF library from which authors can draw to enhance the content they produce. By centralizing the multimedia, tasks such as managing permissions, labels, legends, credits and other metadata can be handled in a consistent, efficient and enforced way.

PDA and WML Services
All content published to the system can be optionally configured for automated adaptation to PDA, WML or other small-form factor devices. Although not all content is well suited for this presentation modality, content such as pocket guidelines, multiple-choice questions, news or trial results can be useful.

Google-based Search
The GlobalPort platform uses a customized Google Search appliance, employing the same technology used at Google.com, as the core of the search engine. In addition to the unparalleled speed and quality of the search returns, the customizations include context evaluation counts (e.g. when searching for a disease or condition, users can specify results specific to diagnosis, etiology, management, symptoms, etc., with a single click).
